South African-born entrepreneur and tech millionaire Elon Musk has announced his decision to ban hashtags from X ads.
Musk who announced the decision in a post on his X handle on Thursday, said the ban would take effect from June 27, 2025.
“Starting tomorrow, the esthetic nightmare that is hashtags will be banned from ads on ,” the Tesla CEO disclosed.
TREND REPORTERS gathered that the move follows Musk’s December 2024 call to ditch hashtags, supported by user reports of better reach without them.
Some X users have welcomed the development, describing it as a game changer.
