The police in Ogun State have arrested a 17-year-old boy identified as Jamiu Adebayo, for allegedly raping his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter in the Aregbe area of Abeokuta.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State police command, Omolola Odutola stated that the suspect had lured the victim into his parents’ sitting room, instructed her to remove her underwear, before defiling her.
According to the statement, the development led to blood dripping from the victim’s private parts and when asked by her mother what happened, she lied that a stick had caused the injury.
The statement quoted the survivor’s mother simply identified as Olabode, as saying that “I was away when neighbours called to inform me that blood was dripping from my daughter’s private parts”.
The spokesperson added that the suspect had been taken into custody and that a comprehensive investigation is being conducted to determine the facts surrounding the crime.
