The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered the sum of N784,000 from officers involved in extortion and other misconducts.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement while highlighting the command’s achievements in 2024.
According to the commissioner, the funds have been returned to victims of the extortion.
Mohammed stated that the command’s Complaint Response Unit, operating under the Police Public Relations Department, has been instrumental in addressing complaints of misconduct lodged by the public.
He revealed that one police constable was dismissed, six officers received warning letters, four officers had their ranks reduced and four others were reprimanded, for various professional misconduct.
The commissioner noted that the disciplinary measures are aimed at fostering public trust and reassured the public of the command’s resolve to enforce professionalism and enhance service delivery.
