Rival Cult Clash Claims Two Lives in Rivers

A clash between rival cult groups in the Mile 1 and Mile axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt on Saturday left two persons dead.

Sources in the densely populated area disclosed that the clash was about territorial control.

They stated that the first killing took place in the morning on Saturday at Odunezealane axis of Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, when gunmen suspected to be members of a factional cult group ambushed and shot their rival dead.

“So the gang members of the cult guy who was shot dead at Mile 3, Diobu, mobilised and went to Sagana/Railway axis of Mile 1 Diobu in the afternoon, same day, and they used a machete to cut their rival known as ‘Ishi’ to death,” one of the sources stated.

PUNCH METRO reports that business owners and traders in the areas where the killings took place hurriedly closed and left for their residences.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was yet to get a report of the incident.
