The Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA, has been granted approval to detain the President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Bello Bodejo, alongside six others for 60 days.
This is to allow for investigations into allegations of banditry and illegal arms possession, brought against them.
A federal high court in Abuja presided over by justice Emeka Nwite gave the permission following an ex-parte motion filed by DIA counsel, I.O. Odom.
The case demanded a two-month detention period to facilitate a thorough investigation.
The suspects, Bodejo, Umar Jibrin, Umar Bello, Suleiman Abbas, Muhammed Ayuba, Jibrin Baba, and Saidu Wakili were transferred to DIA custody after their arrest in Nassarawa State by troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
An affidavit submitted by DIA investigator, Bonny Ozegbe, claimed that the suspects were involved in an attack on a military base in Nasarawa State. The affidavit also pointed out ongoing efforts to capture additional accomplices.
The assault, allegedly orchestrated by Bodejo, resulted in injuries to soldiers and civilians, theft of military arms, and significant destruction.
Items recovered from the suspects were AK-47 rifles and ammunition.
