A Kebbi State High Court for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Special Court in Birnin Kebbi has sentenced two men, Murtala Abdullahi and Abdullahi Abdullahi, to life imprisonment.
In addition, the court imposed a fine of N250,000 or one year in prison for the offenses.
The court jailed the men after finding them guilty of the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
It found the men guilty on four charges, including criminal conspiracy to commit rape, rape, criminal conspiracy to commit intimidation, and intimidation, as outlined in the Kebbi State Penal Code Law 2021.
Delivering the judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Sham Sudden Jafar, observed that the prosecution had successfully proven the charges.
The court evaluated the evidence presented, which included testimony from the victim and a medical report.
The victim had reported that both accused men raped her one after the other, with one of the men threatening her with a cutlass, which caused bruises to her body.
The medical report confirmed that the victim had a severed hymen and visible bruises.
