A 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbunu, has been remanded in a correctional center by a Badagry Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.
Egbunu had pleaded not guilty to defilement and sexual assault before he was remanded at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, in a ruling, also ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until June 3 for ruling on Egbunu’s bail application and for DPP’s legal advice.
The police prosecutor, Ayodele Adeosun, had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offenses on April 20, at Alhaja House, Deeper Life Junction, Ansarudeen Road, Badagry, Lagos State.
“The defendant removed the under garment of the minor and sexually penetrated her,” he stated.
Adeosun added that the offenses contravened sections 261 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
