Nigerian artiste, Temilade Openiyi, widely recognized as Tems, has been awarded the Best African Music Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards held on February 3, 2025.
She triumphed with her track “Love Me JeJe,” surpassing competitors such as “Tomorrow” by Yemi Alade, “MMS” by Asake featuring Wizkid, “Sensational” by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and “Higher” by Burna Boy.
This achievement marks Tems’ second Grammy victory. The inaugural award in this category was won by South Africa’s Tyla for her popular song “Water” in 2024.
At this year’s Grammy ceremony, Tems received three nominations, increasing her total career nominations to eight. She was also recognized in the categories of Best Global Music Album for “Born in the Wild” and Best R&B Song for “Burning.”
The 67th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, featuring several Nigerian nominees across various categories:
